Professor Griffin, you were right...we are all creative...hmhmm

This little thing has been going on in my mind for the whole day. Highlight of my day?...not really. Since I love hip hop, rap, r&b and all kind of that stuff, I constantly check some related pages for some new music, videos, news. And what I found today in my opinion was interesting enough to make a topic of for this blog. The news was about rapper Nelly and his 2003 video of ''Tip Drill'', and how he defends it. Yes...thats right defends because after seeing this video it does not have to be explained why he's doing it. Nelly has recently reflected on his controversial, adult-themed "Tip Drill" music video, stating that it showcased another side of his creativity. Yeah...I would say swiping the credit card between girl's butt cheeks is a brilliant idea ( you have to see the video in order to follow me). So...here is his argument: "I'm not bound by anything in terms of my freedom to create, who says everything you create has to be accepted by everyone? If I only did one thing, one way then I wouldn't be an artist. Everything in the history of art and music wasn't accepted at first. Not to say what I did wasn't risqué, but it was needed at the time. All I did was entertain adult fans.''
So, yes...I kinda want to agree with him...I really like the idea of being free in creating. Creativity=freedom for me. And yes, you can not be loved and accepted by everyone. And we live in a free country where freedom of speech exists. But...there is also a but (as well as in this video :) ). From the perspective of a fan or of a consumer, from the perspective of a female consumer there were certain feelings and emotions I experienced watching the clip. We all know how the usual rap videos are...money, cars, women. And I am usually fine with them, but I felt offended by this one. I seriously did. And all these women in the video...they just made me sick. I can not really find a word how to call them...hoe?...bitch?...slut?...nope...that would be too boring...but anywayss...the main idea was actually CREATIVITY and how it can be interpreted...SKY IS THE LIMIT!!!
